The research group aim to support the continued growth of a community of researchers and knowledge users that will investigate critical issues surrounding assessment and validation practices within CBE approaches in health professions education. Eventually the findings will be generalized to other CBE training programs in HE.
Objectives
The Research Group in Pursuit of Validity (RGPV) aims to contribute to the assessment of future professionals through the investigation of the quality and consequences of assessment in the context of professional training programs.
The scientific program will be articulated around the three axes:
Axis 1: Development and validation of assessment practices aligned with CBE
The overarching goal of Axis 1 is to contribute to the development of assessment and validation practices amenable to CBE contexts.
Axis 2: Decisions and consequences associated with assessment within CBE
The overarching goal of Axis 2 is to investigate how decisions about assessment scores are made in the context of CBE, with particular attention to the downstream consequences of these decisions.
Axis 3: Promotion of the use of evidence-informed assessment and validation practices
The goal of Axis 3 is to engage in knowledge translation (KT) research on the implementation and uptake of assessment and validation practices.
Funding
The Research Group in the Pursuit of Validity would like to thank the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et Culture for the funding of our infrastructure with the Research Team Support program – Emerging team since April 2018.
Awards Committee
This committee will be responsible for the adjudication of student scholarships (bursary and travel scholarships. This committee will be responsible for defining scholarship criteria, reviewing applications, and determining award recipients.
Committee on Knowledge dissemination (KD)
This committee is in construction and its mandate still needs to be precised. In brief, its role is to seek out and identify strategies to facilitate knowledge dissemination. Members will be in charge of creating a strategic plan for our social media presence, and dissemination of the findings to a more general public.
